Faculty research funding available-deadline December 13, 2013

EDGS provides generous support for faculty research.

In the December 2012 round of faculty research funding, the Advisory Board awarded nearly $110,000 in funding across the departments of Political Science, Sociology and Economics.

Northwestern faculty are encouraged to apply by December 13th, for the following funding opportunities:

Faculty Research Grant ($5,000-$25,000)

Research should be closely related to core EDGS themes and lead to publication. Even if the publication is not finished at the end of the grant period, EDGS requires a Working Paper (or Papers) to be provided and a presentation of the work at an EDGS event after completing the research.

Book Conference Grant (up to $5,000)

Manuscript must be under contract or close to submission to a press.  The book should be closely related to core EDGS themes. Conferences should be planned for half-day and one night of accommodations. Participants arrive the night before the event (typically a Friday night), conference starts the following morning, and participants fly out the same day. An honorarium of up to $150 can be paid depending on other costs in the budget.

Faculty Conference or Symposium Grant (up to $25,000)

The event should be closely related to core EDGS themes and lead to publication (journal articles or an edited volume). EDGS requires that the papers be written for the event, submitted in advance, and revised versions submitted as Working Papers.

EDGS Speaker Series (up to $5,000)

The series should be related to core EDGS themes. An honorarium of up to $150 can be paid depending on other costs in the budget. Papers presented will become EDGS Working Papers.
